Advertising And Audiences – Building Meaningful Engagement At Industry Convention In Johannesburg, South Africa

Africa’s diverse and dynamic media consumption patterns transform how advertisers and broadcasters approach their audiences. With digital adoption soaring and mobile penetration expanding, audiences now access content across multiple platforms—from traditional broadcast TV and radio to streaming services and social media channels. However, this proliferation creates fragmentation, making delivering cohesive messaging and measuring true audience engagement increasingly complex.

One of the key challenges facing Africa’s media and advertising ecosystem is audience fragmentation. As consumers increasingly engage with content across multiple platforms, adopting integrated strategies that unify audience data and enable personalised messaging is essential.

Compounding this is the scarcity and inconsistent quality of audience data, which hampers advertisers’ ability to measure impact, optimise campaigns, and demonstrate a clear return on investment. Additionally, the shift in consumer attention toward digital platforms places traditional advertising models under immense pressure, prompting the need for innovative monetisation strategies.

Broadcasters, advertisers, media buyers, technology innovators, and regulators are set to explore cutting-edge tools and strategies that can revolutionise audience engagement across Africa.

According to the summit organisers, the event will feature insights into leveraging advanced audience measurement and analytics technologies and strategies for integrating programmatic advertising and data-driven content delivery. Attendees will gain valuable knowledge from real-world case studies showcasing successful audience engagement and monetisation models. They will engage in critical discussions around policy frameworks that support innovation while safeguarding consumer rights.

“The Advertising and Audiences Summit comes at a crucial time when African media stakeholders are redefining how they measure and build audience relationships,” said Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa (BMA). “This summit provides a unique opportunity for leaders to collaborate, innovate, and take actionable steps towards unifying fragmented data systems, embracing digital monetisation, and restoring trust between audiences and platforms.”

The Advertising and Audiences Summit Africa 2025, themed “Beyond Reach: Building Meaningful Engagement With Audiences,” will take place in Johannesburg from 16 to 17 September 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
