Webinar: AI And Newsroom Operations – Opportunities And Risks | 19 March 2026

As digital transformation continues to reshape the global media landscape, Broadcast Media Africa has announced a high-level online forum titled “Reworking Broadcast Newsroom Operations for the Age of AI” to address the relentless pace of digital transformation. Scheduled for Thursday, 19th March 2026, this one-day event serves as a critical roadmap for media organisations striving to transition from legacy workflows to agile, data-driven, and AI-native operational models.

The forum arrives at a pivotal moment, as audiences demand instant, personalised content across diverse platforms, from social media and mobile apps to connected TVs and smart speakers. Participants will explore how to harness Artificial Intelligence and data-driven technologies to enable faster, more accurate content delivery while striking a vital balance between innovation and editorial integrity.

Commenting on the launch of the forum, Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, noted that the relentless pace of digital transformation, now supercharged by Artificial Intelligence, is forcing a fundamental rethink of the traditional newsroom. He emphasised that to meet modern audience demands, news organisations must move beyond legacy workflows and embrace an agile, data-driven, AI-native operational model.

The program will dive into the practical realities of the “AI-Powered Journalist,” examining how generative AI can assist in research, scriptwriting, and multi-format versioning without compromising credibility. Attendees will also explore “Content Intelligence” to predict trending topics and “Automated Production Workflows” to accelerate content-to-market speed through AI-driven video logging and metadata tagging. Furthermore, the event will address the emergence of new roles, such as Prompt Engineers and AI Ethicists, as well as the strategies needed to create a “Single Source” content hub for efficient multi-platform publishing.

To ensure a comprehensive industry perspective, the forum will feature illuminating presentations from key executives and expert-led panel sessions. It is designed for a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including News Directors, Editors-in-Chief, Heads of Digital Strategy, Broadcast Journalists, and AI professionals. The event also offers dedicated online networking opportunities for representatives from media technology providers, journalism academics, and regulatory agencies to establish new connections and discuss ethical guardrails for the future of news.
