Cassava Technologies, a prominent technology leader with African roots, has partnered with AXON Networks, a global innovator in intelligent network solutions, to launch Africa’s first end-to-end Operator-as-a-Service (OaaS) platform.

This initiative aims to drive Africa’s digital transformation by leveraging AXON’s AI-ready platform, integrated with Cassava’s high-speed fibre network, to connect millions of people and businesses and foster economic growth.

The announcement took place at the Counder Conference 2026 in Cape Town, which gathers global investors and corporate leaders to discuss emerging trends.

The OaaS platform will provide secure, high-speed data infrastructure for mobile network operators, LEO satellite providers, and internet service providers (ISPs), enabling agility and new opportunities for AI adoption.

By creating a dynamic digital model of Cassava’s fibre network—over 110,000 km in total—AXON transforms it into a self-learning system, reducing operational costs and enhancing service delivery.

Hardy Pemhiwa, President & Group CEO of Cassava, emphasised the need for flexible, high-performance network solutions to support businesses in their digital journeys. This partnership aims to evolve their fibre network into a dynamic platform that enables near real-time adjustments.

AXON’s representatives highlighted the excitement of creating a live, AI-driven ecosystem that supports Africa’s AI economy, enhancing growth and innovation. Counder’s founders, Michel Weiss and Leonard Stiegeler, expressed their honour in hosting the announcement, underscoring the partnership’s potential to spark meaningful collaboration and impact across the continent.
