“Iyanu: The Age of Wonders” Returns For An Epic Season 2 With New Adventures And Challenges

Lion Forge Entertainment (LFE) has unveiled an exclusive sneak peek clip from Season 2 of Iyanu, the acclaimed animated series on Cartoon Network and HBO Max, which draws inspiration from Yoruba mythology. It has also been confirmed that Season 2 will premiere in the spring of 2026, bringing new challenges, wonders, and hidden secrets from Yorubaland.

The teaser hints at the upcoming trials for The Chosen, as Iyanu (voiced by Serah Johnson) and Team Chosen prepare to confront the return of Zaza and the People of the Deep, the most formidable faction in Yorubaland, led by the charismatic and powerful Queen Adura. This time, however, Iyanu is equipped with her understanding of the Divine Ones, enhanced abilities, and rigorous training in the Way of the Golden Leaf—a vibrant fighting style rooted in Capoeira, taught to her by Olori (voiced by Adesua Etomi-Wellington). Every lesson and skirmish has set the stage for her pivotal moment.

Based on the graphic novel series Iyanu: Child of Wonder by Roye Okupe, who serves as the creator, showrunner, and executive producer, the story follows a teenage orphan who uncovers her divine abilities and her purpose in saving the ancient kingdom of Yorubaland.

Produced by Lion Forge Entertainment, a prominent Black-owned entertainment studio in North America, the series has achieved remarkable success: it ranked as a Top 10 Kids and Family show on HBO Max, topped the Kids 6-12 category during its debut month on Cartoon Network in April, and is the #1 Kids and Family title on Showmax across 44 African countries. It is also available on ITVX in the UK and streaming on ABCiview in Australia.

Season 2 promises 10 new episodes, where viewers will witness Iyanu as she further masters her divine powers amid an intense conflict between Elu and the People of the Deep, led by the formidable Adura. With various factions in Yorubaland competing for powerful divine artefacts resurfacing, Iyanu seeks a way to end the struggle and restore harmony. As Team Chosen reunites and tensions mount among former allies and adversaries, Iyanu confronts potent threats from the Age of Wonders, including deep-seated secrets from her past.

Fans can catch up on the journey with all of Season 1, including the season finale movie special, Iyanu: The Age of Wonders, available for HBO Max (U.S.) streaming. The official Iyanu Shop has also launched at shop.iyanutheseries.com, featuring exclusive apparel and collectables for fans.
