Building Bridges: Collaboration As The Key To Africa’s Cloud Broadcasting Future

Industry leaders from across the continent will convene in Lagos, Nigeria, on 24 – 25 March 2026 for the upcoming Cloud Broadcasting Summit – Africa 2026, where a central focus will be the growing importance of collaboration as a competitive advantage in Africa’s broadcasting and digital media ecosystem.

As the media landscape becomes increasingly cloud-driven and platform-centric, broadcasters are no longer operating in isolation. The convergence of content, connectivity and computing power is redefining traditional value chains. In this environment, meaningful collaboration between broadcasters, telecommunications operators and technology firms is emerging as the most practical pathway to scale, efficiency and innovation.

The session titled “Collaboration as the Competitive Edge: Uniting Broadcasters, Telcos, and Tech Firms” will explore how strategic alliances are enabling faster digital transformation. Broadcasters bring trusted brands and compelling content; telcos provide infrastructure, subscriber bases and billing relationships; while technology companies deliver cloud architecture, analytics, cybersecurity and platform development. When aligned, these capabilities create integrated solutions that enhance distribution reach, improve user experience and unlock new monetisation models.

Discussions will examine real-world partnership structures—from bundled content and data offerings, to shared cloud infrastructure and co-developed streaming platforms. The conversation will also address how collaborative data strategies can generate deeper audience insights, support targeted advertising and strengthen customer retention in highly competitive markets.

Importantly, the dialogue will consider the governance and commercial frameworks required to make such partnerships sustainable, including revenue-sharing models, data ownership agreements and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions. As digital consumption grows across Africa, the ability to build agile, cross-sector ecosystems may determine which players lead and which fall behind.

Commenting ahead of the Summit, Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, said, “The era of siloed growth in broadcasting is over. Today, competitive strength is built through collaboration. Broadcasters, telcos and technology firms each hold a critical piece of the digital value chain. When these capabilities are strategically aligned, we see faster innovation, broader access to content and more sustainable business models. Our focus at this Summit is to explore how Africa can build these partnerships deliberately and effectively.”

The 2026 Cloud Broadcasting Summit will provide a high-level platform for industry executives, technology leaders and policymakers to shape the next phase of cloud-powered broadcasting growth across the continent—driven not by competition alone, but by coordinated collaboration.
