
In a historic achievement, South Africa has garnered five nominations at the 2025 International Emmy® Awards, marking the highest number of nominations for any African nation in a single year.
MultiChoice has received four of these nominations:
- Chasing the Sun 2 (SuperSport): An evocative documentary capturing the thrilling journey of the Springboks in the 2023 Rugby World Cup, allowing fans to relive their path to a fourth championship title.
- Koek (Showmax): This acclaimed Afrikaans crime drama is infused with humour, suspense, and unforgettable characters and is celebrated as the most awarded TV series at Silwerskerm 2024.
- School Ties (M-Net): This bold and impactful documentary illuminates the previously silenced stories of students, driving national dialogue and change.
- Catch Me a Killer (Showmax): A psychological thriller featuring Charlotte Hope as Micki Pistorius, South Africa’s pioneering serial-killer profiler, who has earned a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress.
Play Room Live adds a fifth nomination to this extraordinary list, making this achievement even more commendable.
