Three films produced by MAD Solutions will compete at La Cinémathèque de Béjaïa in Algeria from September 6 to 11, 2025. The films featured in this competition are “Sudan, Remember Us” by Hind Meddeb, “Agora” by Ala Eddine Slim, and “Silent Storms” by Dania Reymond-Boughenou.
“Sudan, Remember Us” poignantly portrays Sudanese youth who defy military oppression through the power of art and poetry. The narrative follows four activists—Shajane, Maha, Khatab, and Muzamil—who articulate their resistance to dictatorship through heartfelt verses and protests.
“Agora” delves into a mysterious event in a secluded Tunisian town where individuals who had been missing for years suddenly reappear. These returnees create tension within families and the broader community, prompting local police inspector Fathi and his friend, the doctor Amine, to uncover the truth. The situation escalates when Omar, a police inspector from the capital, arrives to help solve the enigma.
“Silent Storms” centres on Nacer, a 45-year-old journalist exploring the bizarre phenomenon of yellow sandstorms sweeping over Algiers. As he documents these events, Nacer encounters eerie supernatural occurrences, including the unexpected return of his deceased wife, Fajar. With the storms intensifying, Nacer must confront a troubled past linked to Algeria’s dark history—one many hoped would remain buried.
