SES has successfully obtained all necessary regulatory approvals for its acquisition of Intelsat, following clearance from the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This milestone marks the completion of the approval process for the significant $3.1 billion deal.
Initially announced on April 30, 2024, the agreement entails SES acquiring 100% of Intelsat in a cash transaction designed to enhance SES’s position within the global satellite communications market. The transaction’s completion was dependent on receiving the requisite regulatory approvals and meeting other closing conditions, all of which have now been fulfilled.
SES intends to finalise the acquisition on or around Thursday, July 17, 2025 and will issue a subsequent press release to confirm the completion of the deal.
This acquisition is anticipated to establish one of the most extensive space-based networks, merging SES’s multi-orbit satellite capabilities with Intelsat’s robust presence in media and connectivity services.
