As the broadcasting and media landscape continues to evolve at lightning speed, Mr. Davies Kabuswe, President of Sun FM, emphasizes the importance of originality, authenticity, and adaptability in driving impactful content.

Speaking ahead of the Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa 2025, taking place from 28th to 30th October 2025 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, Mr. Kabuswe underscored that originality remains the cornerstone of effective communication and audience connection. “To me, originality in content means finding a unique voice or perspective that cuts through the noise,” said Mr. Kabuswe. “It’s not just about being different, but about being authentic to your brand’s purpose. With so much content out there, originality is what makes your message memorable and impactful.”

Mr. Kabuswe also highlighted how new digital platforms are reshaping how content is created and consumed. “Platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts are revolutionising content consumption. They’re pushing creators to think short-form, snackable, and engaging. At the same time, AI-generated content is transforming the game—helping us produce high-quality content at scale. To stay ahead, we must adapt our strategies to these technologies, using their unique features to reach audiences in innovative ways.”

Sharing his broader philosophy on content strategy, Mr. Kabuswe emphasised creating authentic, engaging, and audience-driven content that not only entertains but builds meaningful connections and drives tangible business results.

Looking ahead to the Convention, Mr. Kabuswe expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration and knowledge-sharing the event fosters among industry professionals: “I hope fellow participants will take away inspiration, new ideas, and valuable connections. This convention is a chance to learn from each other, share experiences, and gain insights into the latest industry trends. I hope attendees will leave feeling energized, motivated, and equipped to tackle the challenges and opportunities in our ever-evolving industry.”

The Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa 2025, hosted by the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) and convener Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) and the Southern Africa Broadcasting Assoication (SABA), brings together leading media executives, broadcasters, and digital innovators from across the region to explore the future of broadcasting, content, and technology.
