AI, Cloud And Digital Innovation Focus Of Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa 2026 In Seychelles

Africa’s broadcasting industry is entering a new era, driven by artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, streaming, connected platforms and rapidly changing audience behaviours.

These developments will take centre stage at the Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa 2026, taking place from 22–25 October 2026 in Victoria, Mahé, Seychelles.

Hosted by the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) and convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) in collaboration with the Southern Africa Broadcasting Association (SABA), the convention will bring together broadcasters, media executives, technology providers, regulators, content producers and industry experts to examine the forces redefining the future of African media.

The boundaries between traditional broadcasting and digital media are rapidly disappearing. Audiences are consuming content across television, radio, smartphones, connected TVs, streaming services and social platforms, creating new opportunities while increasing competition for audience attention.

The convention will explore how broadcasters can adapt their operations, infrastructure and business models to this increasingly connected environment.

Artificial intelligence is transforming the broadcast value chain, from newsroom operations and content production to transcription, translation, metadata generation, personalisation and audience analytics.

Discussions will examine how broadcasters can move beyond AI experimentation towards practical implementation, while addressing critical issues around editorial oversight, governance, intellectual property, data protection and responsible AI adoption.

Cloud technologies are creating new possibilities for remote production, virtualised workflows, cloud playout, storage, collaboration and disaster recovery.

The convention will consider how African broadcasters can adopt cloud infrastructure while addressing challenges around connectivity, cybersecurity, data sovereignty, investment and skills.

As broadcasters expand across OTT and digital platforms, the ability to digitise, manage, distribute and monetise content is becoming increasingly important.

The convention will explore how AI, cloud and modern content management technologies can help broadcasters unlock the value of their archives and local content, while developing new opportunities through streaming, digital advertising, subscriptions, partnerships and other emerging revenue models.

Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, said, “Broadcasting is moving beyond traditional boundaries. The opportunity for African broadcasters is to combine AI, cloud, connectivity, compelling content and audience intelligence to build media organisations that are more agile, innovative and sustainable.”

The Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa 2026 will bring industry leaders together to share insights, explore emerging technologies and shape strategies for the future of digital media in Africa.
