NBCUniversal And YouTube Partner To Bring Peacock Content To YouTube Premium

NBCUniversal and YouTube have signed a multiyear agreement that will make Peacock’s content available directly through YouTube Premium for U.S. subscribers, beginning in early 2027.

The deal will integrate Peacock’s library into the YouTube platform, allowing subscribers to access its content without leaving YouTube. The offering will include NBC Sports programming such as the NFL and NBA, Universal Pictures films, Peacock originals, and Bravo franchises including The Real Housewives and Love Island USA.

The agreement follows discussions that began around nine months ago after Comcast co-CEO Brian Roberts approached YouTube CEO Neal Mohan about potential strategic partnerships. Following meetings between the two companies, the collaboration evolved into a broader distribution and content integration agreement.

The partnership comes at a time of significant transformation in the media industry, as traditional broadcasters and entertainment companies seek new growth opportunities amid declining pay-TV subscriptions and intensifying competition from digital platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. It also follows Comcast’s recent announcement that NBCUniversal will separate from its parent company.

Unlike the growing number of bundled streaming packages in the market, this arrangement goes a step further by embedding Peacock’s content directly within the YouTube experience, eliminating the need for users to switch between apps.

The move also reflects Peacock’s improving business performance. NBCUniversal recently reported that Peacock reached 48 million paid subscribers as of June 30 and achieved quarterly profitability for the first time. Comcast executives have indicated they expect the streaming service to remain profitable on an annual basis following the company’s planned separation.

In addition to the Peacock integration, the agreement extends NBCUniversal’s long-term distribution partnership with YouTube TV and continues the availability of YouTube, YouTube TV, and YouTube Premium across Comcast’s Xfinity and Xumo platforms.

The companies will also expand their advertising partnership, enabling NBCUniversal to monetise advertising for Peacock content on YouTube. The enhanced collaboration is expected to strengthen both companies’ streaming and digital advertising businesses as ad-supported streaming continues to grow in importance across the media industry.
