Emerging Standards For Broadcast & Streaming In Africa To Take Centre Stage At Radio Broadcasters Convention – Africa 2026

As Africa’s radio and streaming industries continue to evolve rapidly, broadcasters across the continent are being challenged to keep up with a rapidly changing regulatory, technical, and operational environment. From digital transmission standards and streaming compliance to content regulation, metadata requirements, audience measurement, and platform interoperability, station leaders are now operating in a landscape where staying informed is no longer optional — it is critical for long-term sustainability and competitiveness.

These issues will take centre stage at the upcoming Radio Broadcasters Convention – Africa 2026, taking place on 01 – 02 July 2026 at THE VENUE, Green Park, Johannesburg, South Africa, under the timely and highly relevant topic: “Emerging Standards for Broadcast and Streaming in Africa – What Every Station Leader Needs to Know Now.”

As traditional broadcasting increasingly intersects with digital streaming and on-demand audio consumption, the conversation around standards has become more urgent than ever. Regulators, platform operators, broadcasters, technology providers, and content distributors are all working to define frameworks that will shape the future of radio and audio broadcasting across Africa.

The session will examine the latest developments influencing how broadcasters operate in an increasingly connected ecosystem, including evolving technical standards, digital migration requirements, streaming quality expectations, data governance, advertising compliance, content discoverability, and cross-platform distribution strategies. Delegates will also explore how international broadcasting and streaming standards are beginning to influence African markets and what this means for local radio operators navigating audience growth, monetisation, and compliance challenges.

With radio audiences increasingly consuming content across mobile apps, smart speakers, connected vehicles, podcasts, and streaming platforms, broadcasters are under growing pressure to deliver seamless, high-quality experiences while maintaining compliance and operational efficiency. The convention aims to provide station executives, technical managers, content strategists, regulators, and digital teams with practical guidance on navigating this transition successfully.

The Radio Broadcasters Convention – Africa 2026 continues to position itself as one of the continent’s leading platforms for strategic dialogue, collaboration, and innovation within the radio and audio broadcasting sector. By bringing together influential stakeholders from across Africa and beyond, the event will provide an important opportunity to examine the standards, technologies, and policy directions shaping the future of broadcasting on the continent.

The convention will take place on 01 – 02 July 2026 at THE VENUE, Green Park, Johannesburg, South Africa. Broadcasters, streaming professionals, regulators, technology providers, and media executives from across the continent are expected to attend.
