Disney+ and DAZN will jointly broadcast LaLiga in France from the 2026/27 season, ending beIN Sports’ long-standing run as the French home of Spain’s top football competition.
Under the new three-season agreement, Disney confirmed that all 380 LaLiga EA Sports matches will be streamed live on ESPN on Disney+ in France from 2026/27 through 2028/29. The coverage will include French-language commentary and will be available as part of existing Disney+ subscriptions.
DAZN will also carry the complete LaLiga schedule during the same period, creating a shared broadcast model for the competition in France until 2029.
The agreement represents a major shift in the French sports rights market, with beIN Sports losing LaLiga coverage after holding exclusive rights since entering the French market in 2012. The broadcaster’s current agreement runs until the end of the 2025/26 season.
For Disney, the deal further strengthens its growing sports offering through ESPN on Disney+ across Europe. The platform already holds LaLiga rights in the UK and Ireland on a partial basis and will add full coverage in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland from the 2026/27 season.
The company has continued to expand its sports portfolio internationally, including rights to L’équipe TV in France, the UEFA Women’s Champions League across Europe, and selected US sports content.
Karl Holmes, General Manager of Disney+ EMEA, said the addition of LaLiga would provide French subscribers with a new way to experience one of football’s most popular competitions.
“We’re excited to bring LALIGA to all Disney+ France customers in a fresh new way. LALIGA has a strong connection with football fans in France, with many French players making their mark in Spain alongside iconic clubs and unforgettable rivalries,” he said.
For DAZN, the partnership strengthens its position as a major football rights player in France. The platform already offers competitions including Serie A, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, Copa del Rey, Eredivisie and Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League, while also distributing Ligue 1+.
LaLiga President Javier Tebas said the agreement with Disney represents another significant step in the league’s international growth strategy, building on previous partnerships with The Walt Disney Company in the United States, the UK and Ireland, and Nordic countries.
The move highlights the growing role of streaming platforms in premium sports distribution, as traditional broadcasters face increasing competition from digital-first services seeking to attract and retain sports audiences.
