Viory, a video news agency dedicated to highlighting the perspectives of the Global South, has entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with Mali’s national broadcaster, the Office de radiodiffusion et de télévision du Mali (ORTM). This agreement represents a significant milestone in Viory’s efforts to amplify Global South voices internationally and enhance its influence in West Africa.
ORTM, as Mali’s leading broadcaster, reaches millions of viewers nationwide, providing essential news and cultural programming. The partnership under the MoC will facilitate joint efforts in international news coverage, cultural event promotion, technical collaboration, digital innovation, and knowledge exchange. The objective is to enhance broadcasting capabilities and elevate the visibility of stories from Mali and the broader West African region.
Zulayho Siddikova, Viory’s General Manager, remarked on the partnership: “Collaborating with ORTM, the foremost broadcaster in Mali, is a pivotal moment for Viory. This partnership enables us to deepen our roots in West Africa and ensures that the narratives of Mali and its citizens are showcased on a global platform. ORTM’s extensive reach and esteemed reputation make it an essential ally as we work to create a robust and diverse network across the Global South.”
Hassane Baba Diombélé, Director General of ORTM, expressed that the MoC with Viory signifies a transformative era for ORTM in broadening its reach and capabilities beyond borders. “Joining forces with the video news agency of the Global South allows us to amplify Malian narratives, connect with a wider audience, and enrich the variety of media content available to our viewers,” he stated.
This agreement builds on Viory’s expanding presence across Africa. Recently, the agency has forged MoCs with several organisations, including Agence Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) and the O.I.C. States Broadcasting Union (OSBU) during the Arab Radio and Television Festival in Tunisia, as well as the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation. These collaborations highlight Viory’s commitment to uniting media organisations across the continent, fostering partnerships, and ensuring that African voices are more prominently featured in global discussions.
As ORTM becomes part of this growing network, Viory strengthens its regional engagement and reinforces Mali’s status as a cultural and media focal point. The partnership reflects Viory’s ongoing commitment to shaping international narratives through authentic stories from Africa and the wider Global South.
