BMA has learnt that MTN Nigeria has received approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to establish a three-year national roaming agreement with 9mobile.

This agreement allows 9mobile users to seamlessly connect to MTN Nigeria’s network, fostering collaboration within the industry and enhancing operational efficiencies.

MTN highlighted that its extensive coverage will enable 9mobile to provide robust mobile communication services to its customers.

Moreover, this partnership is seen as a key development for the sustainability of the telecommunications sector in Nigeria, according to MTN.

The company stated, “By facilitating national roaming, MTN Nigeria is playing a vital role in optimizing the use of telecommunications resources and advancing efforts to expand connectivity throughout the country. This initiative reflects MTN Nigeria’s dedication to creating shared value and promoting industry sustainability.”

Karl Toriola, the CEO of MTN Nigeria, expressed his enthusiasm for the agreement, stating, “This partnership signifies a major step in our commitment to fostering industry collaboration, enhancing customer experiences, and supporting the NCC’s vision for a fully connected Nigeria.

Effectively delivering the necessary scale for telecommunications services in Nigeria requires strong collaboration among private and public sectors as well as long-term investors. This agreement showcases the achievements possible through collaboration, and we are thrilled to announce it today following months of preparation.”
