As Africa’s radio broadcasting landscape navigates the growing tides of digital transformation, international media players seek new opportunities to collaborate, learn, and innovate with their African counterparts. Among them is Viktoriia Budanova, Head of Sputnik Africa, who will participate in the upcoming Radio Broadcasting Convention—Africa 2025, scheduled to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In a pre-convention interview, Budanova shared that her decision to participate stems from the convention’s potential to bring media professionals across the continent and globe together in meaningful space.

“This convention is an opportunity to meet representatives of the African media industry, exchange experiences, discuss pressing issues, propose solutions, and establish direct contact between journalists from different countries,” said Budanova.

Budanova emphasised that Sputnik Africa is committed to deeper engagement with African media. “It is important for us to communicate with African broadcasters because it allows us to evolve and remain relevant in a highly dynamic media environment,” she explained. Sputnik’s content has already aired on numerous local FM radio stations across the continent.

Budanova also revealed Sputnik’s willingness to share technological expertise, especially in AI integration. “We have initiatives such as Sputnik Pro, a training program where our specialists share experiences on emerging technologies and journalistic ethics with African colleagues,” she said.

As Sputnik Africa prepares for the convention, Budanova hopes the event will foster lasting partnerships and practical insights. “Participants will gain fresh ideas, new contacts, and tools for implementation. I believe the best solutions are always born through open dialogue,” she concluded.
