Lion Forge Entertainment, a prominent Black-owned animation studio, recently hosted a panel discussion at the Lagos Comic Con. The event will centred around “Iyanu,” a highly anticipated animated series based on the “Iyanu: Child of Wonder” graphic novel.

The panel, titled “IYANU: Creating a Nigerian Superhero Series for the World,” featured key figures behind the project. Godwin Akpan, the series’ art director and illustrator of the original graphic novel, was joined by Serah Johnson, the voice actress for the titular character “Iyanu.”

This exclusive event delved into the creative process of transforming the graphic novel into a global animated series. Panellists included Victor Sanchez Aghahowa, Head of Production for MultiChoice West Africa, alongside Akinboye Sunkanmi and Toyin Ajetunmobi, the illustrators who brought the graphic novel to life.

“Iyanu” is slated for release on Cartoon Network and Max in the US, while Showmax, the exclusive African streaming partner for the series, will debut it across 44 African countries in 2025.
