Sputnik is one of the largest international multimedia news and radio broadcasters. It operates in more than 30 languages, has 26 multifunctional hubs worldwide, and is headquartered in Moscow, Russia.

Sputnik is known for providing fast, accurate and up-to-the-minute coverage. That is why its content attracts around 90M views daily on social media. Sputnik’s global radio audience exceeds 210 million listeners. On the African continent, Sputnik is represented by its local branch, Sputnik Africa, which broadcasts on FM radio stations in Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Botswana, Niger, Mali, the Republic of the Congo, and Guinea, and develops an extensive network of correspondents.

Sputnik is the only Russian media providing content in Amharic and one of the few delivering news in Swahili. With its multifunctional hubs in Ethiopia, Tanzania and South Africa, Sputnik strives to unite the continent’s information field and provide an alternative view on the global agenda.

“The voice of the voiceless” with the “objective reporting that is not biased”, according to General Rudzani Maphwanya, Chief of the South African National Defence Force.

Numerous local journalists work for Sputnik, offering original radio programs, delivering exclusive reports, breaking news and unique footage straight from the scene.

Sputnik is a modern news agency that keeps up with the times. It applies innovative AI tools to optimise processes and enhance creativity. Hosts made with the help of AI provide high-quality content based on fact-checking and real correspondents’ reports. According to numerous experts and local politicians, Sputnik is now one of the swiftly developing pan-African media outlets on the continent.
