Abu Dhabi Strengthens Creative Media Landscape With Animotion MENA Partnership

The Creative Media Authority (CMA) has forged a partnership with Animotion MENA, a global leader in animation, aiming to position Abu Dhabi as a focal point for cutting-edge storytelling and AI-driven content. This collaboration, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), seeks to harness Animotion’s extensive animation expertise to foster innovative family, kids, and teen content.

Central to this partnership is the ambition to integrate AI technology into the creation of short-form content, talent development initiatives, and broader industry support. The collaboration aligns with CMA’s mission to attract creative enterprises and nurture local talent, thereby enhancing Abu Dhabi’s cultural and economic landscape.

CMA and Animotion MENA will work on several initiatives, including the production of AI-enhanced animation, the potential establishment of an animation academy, and the development of youth-focused content formats. These projects aim to boost local production capabilities and create sustainable pathways for young creators to gain practical industry experience.

In response to changing global content consumption habits, the partnership will also focus on creating vertical formats aimed at teen audiences, a demographic that remains relatively underserved worldwide. Opportunities for youth participation in on-screen talent and casting will be incorporated through existing CMA initiatives, including youth camps that foster talent development.

This collaboration builds on CMA’s previous efforts to empower young talent through experiential learning, such as its Winter Camp program and online workshops. Working together with Animotion MENA, these initiatives will delve into storytelling for digital platforms, emphasising visual creativity, character development, and responsible content creation.

The partnership envisions a comprehensive ecosystem that enables young participants to transition from educational settings into real-world productions, equipping them with skills relevant to the evolving digital media landscape. Content developed under this collaboration will focus on themes such as creativity, teamwork, ambition, and personal growth.

Khalid Khoury, CMA’s Director for Industry Development, emphasised the importance of this collaboration in establishing Abu Dhabi as a global hub for creative media and talent. Julia Nikolaeva, General Manager of Animotion MENA, highlighted Abu Dhabi’s unique potential for marrying creativity with technological innovation.

This alliance aligns with CMA’s broader strategy to enhance collaboration across government, education, and the private sector, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s commitment to nurturing animation, AI, and youth-driven content as foundational elements of its creative media economy.
