WapTV Secures New License For Extensive Collection Of Nigerian Films

WapTV, Nigeria’s leading family entertainment channel, has announced a significant acquisition of broadcast rights for a vast array of the finest English, Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba films created by renowned Nigerian filmmakers.

Beginning May 2, 2026, this impressive lineup will showcase exceptional performances from Nigeria’s biggest stars, including Rita Dominic, Jumoke Odetola, Odunlade Adekola, Segun Arinze, Yinka Quadri, Ali Nuhu, Tina Mba, Victor Osuagwu, Allwell Ademola, Fausat Balogun, Yetunde Wunmi, Belinda Effah, Ifeanyi Kalu, Ayo Olaiya, Divine Answer, Don Brymo, Tijani Faraga, and many more, as stated by WapTV management.

The films are produced by notable talents such as Bolaji Ahmed Kuforiji, Alhaji Hissa Yusuf, Yousuph Olawale, Lynda Clems, Ishola Saheed Ayedun, Divine Answer, and Isman’il Usman.

In their statement, WapTV emphasised its commitment to delivering the best indigenous content suitable for all family members, declaring, “These hundreds of fresh movies are proudly made in Nigeria and resonate better with our viewers due to their relatable, relevant, and ultimately entertaining nature.”

WapTV, a multiple-award-winning channel, is currently enjoyed by millions of families in Nigeria and across several African nations through a comprehensive network available on major digital TV platforms: DStv 262, GOtv 102, StarSat 189, and PlayTV 275.
