Resolving OTT Content Streaming Challenges In Africa | 24 – 25 Feb 2026 | GrandWest Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa

Africa’s leading media organisations are calling for radical cooperation across the digital ecosystem. The OTT Content Streaming Summit – Africa 2026, hosted by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), will focus on forging a unified strategy to accelerate the continent’s streaming evolution.

Scheduled for 24 – 25 February 2026 at the GrandWest Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, the Summit underscores a crucial shift from competition to structural collaboration, aiming to unlock sustainable growth for all stakeholders.

The African streaming market is poised for explosive growth, yet it is currently constrained by infrastructure and investment gaps. The 2026 Summit is specifically designed to tackle these foundational issues by driving actionable commitments. Key sessions will focus on moving beyond single-entity efforts to create public-private partnerships dedicated to building resilient, cost-effective infrastructure. This includes joint ventures between telecom providers, global tech companies, and governments to expand affordable Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and enhance last-mile connectivity. The goal is to dramatically lower the cost of access, making high-quality streaming ubiquitous across the continent. Recognising the soaring demand for authentic African stories, the Summit will also launch frameworks for co-production alliances.

These initiatives will pool resources from traditional African broadcasters, international OTT platforms, and production houses to ensure that African content is produced to world-class standards, meeting both local quotas and global distribution needs. This approach is designed to elevate the visibility and economic returns for African storytellers.

The two-day event will serve as a vital interface between industry and government, addressing the regulatory complexities of a cross-border digital economy. Attendees will discuss developing uniform regulatory standards across African markets to foster a predictable, attractive environment for domestic and foreign capital investment, which is essential for Policy Harmonisation. Furthermore, the Summit will feature deep dives into hybrid monetisation models, including the increasing role of FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) and innovative mobile-first payment solutions, to drive profitability in highly price-sensitive regions.

Stakeholders interested in directly shaping Africa’s digital media trajectory can find out more about the event HERE.
