Space42, an innovative SpaceTech firm based in the UAE, has announced a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Angola’s Military Intelligence and Security Service (SISM). This significant partnership was announced during the recent state visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to Angola, following an official invitation from Angolan President João Lourenço.

The five-year agreement focuses on collaborative technology initiatives across various sectors. The partnership includes advancements in satellite communications, Earth observation, artificial intelligence, high-altitude platform stations, national security drones, border control mechanisms, and the development of command and control centres.

This MOU marks a pivotal moment in the UAE-Angola relationship, establishing a framework for deeper cooperation during President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s state visit, which aims to bolster the ties between the two nations. The agreement was signed in Luanda and attended by senior military officials from Angola and Space42’s Chief Commercial Officer, Sulaiman Al Ali.

Space42 already plays a vital role in Angola with its YahClick satellite broadband service, offering comprehensive nationwide coverage. This current operational infrastructure sets the stage for enhancing services with the upcoming Thuraya-4 satellite system, reflecting Space42’s long-term vision for growth in Angola and affirming the significance of this MOU as a continuation of their evolving relationship.

Sulaiman Al Ali, Chief Commercial Officer at Space42, expressed excitement about the partnership: “Our collaboration signifies an important development for Angola. After years of providing satellite services, this MOU represents a natural evolution of our commitment. The genuine interest shown by General Massano and his team during their visit to the UAE highlights how our space technology and AI solutions can benefit national security and the daily lives of the Angolan people. Together, we have an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact.”

This agreement originated from high-level discussions in the UAE involving General João Pereira Massano, head of Angola’s Military Intelligence and Security Service, and the leadership team of Space42. These meetings included live demonstrations and extensive product presentations, illustrating Space42’s advanced space-based intelligence and AI solutions, which captivated the Angolan delegation and led to this formal collaboration.

This MOU is a testament to Space42’s dedication to expanding its African presence and supporting government partners with advanced space technologies and AI solutions.
