Gilat Telecom, a global satellite services provider, has announced plans to significantly expand the capacity and reach of a Tier-1 cellular network across Africa using Novelsat’s advanced satellite modem technology. The initiative aims to boost high-speed connectivity for both existing and new locations across the continent.

Gilat Telecom will use Novelsat’s high-capacity SCPC modems to extend satellite coverage to additional areas while increasing network capacity. This will ensure faster, more robust broadband services. Novelsat’s modem technology, featuring its NS4 bandwidth-efficient waveform and DUET bandwidth reuse technology, is designed to deliver top-tier transmission speeds, maximum spectral efficiency, and high resilience.

Commenting on the deal, Gary Drutin, CEO of Novelsat, said: “We are happy to support Gilat Telecom in this expansion of the network in Africa. By increasing the reach and capacity of the cellular network, we ensure that more communities benefit from reliable and high-quality services. This expansion is a testament to the market demand for our unique capability to provide world-class satellite connectivity.”

Asaf Rosenheck, COO of Gilat Telecom, added: “We are happy to cooperate with Novelsat and offer our Tier-1 customers reliable solutions that meet their high needs. This collaboration allows us to better serve our African customers, bringing them the robust, high-speed broadband services they require to support their growing needs.”
