Executive Producer Ruth Ojougboh is set to unveil the feature-length animated film ORAYA at the Marché du Film as part of the Focus on Africa Conference during the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. The presentation will take place on May 13, 2026, in Cannes, France.

Ojougboh, a passionate advocate for African narratives and a pioneer in children’s intellectual property and animation, has a notable portfolio. She executive-produced the acclaimed film “Blinded by the Lights”, which has been recognised at various Oscar-qualifying festivals, including Annecy, DOK Leipzig, and the Pan African Film Festival. Additionally, she played a key role in the TAIDO project, an Arc & Beyond NGO within the Sony Group, which garnered three awards in Japan’s anime sector.

ORAYA, produced by AnimaxFYB Studios, is a captivating 90-minute 2.5D animated feature set in a futuristic Ghana, targeting a global audience aged 16 and above—the narrative centres on a talented tech creator who faces accusations of instigating a global addiction. In a race against time, they must unite a fragmented group of pan-African heroes to confront a secret syndicate that seeks to exploit the planet’s last remaining sacred energy source.

Currently in the early stages of development, ORAYA is backed by engaging visual assets and is actively pursuing partnerships for financing, co-production, and distribution.

AnimaxFYB Studios continues to strengthen its global presence, with notable showings at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, a Best Animation award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, and multiple selections at various Oscar-qualifying events.

“This goes beyond just being a film. ORAYA represents African-owned intellectual property designed to evolve past a single release,” emphasised Ojougboh.

Francis Yushau Brown, Founder and Creative Director, added, “We are committed to crafting original African stories with the ambition and structure necessary to compete on a global scale.”

Private meetings with select partners are scheduled throughout the Marché du Film, underscoring the focus on crafting intentional, ownership-driven African stories with expansive global aspirations.

AnimaxFYB Studios is dedicated to developing premium animation, film, and multimedia content for international audiences while fostering sustainable talent and production ecosystems across Africa.
