The Agency for the Development of Information and Communication Technologies (ADETIC) has been officially accepted as a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations specialised agency focused on information and communication technologies (ICT).
As a member of the ITU’s Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D), ADETIC received a welcome letter from ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin. This membership represents a crucial advancement in Chad’s national digital development strategy.
Joining the ITU provides ADETIC with access to a global network of 194 member countries and over 1,000 organisations from various sectors, including private enterprise, academia, and international institutions. This partnership will equip the agency with the essential knowledge, best practices, and resources needed to address significant ICT challenges in Chad.
Through its active participation in ITU initiatives, ADETIC plans to enhance its capacity to develop innovative and inclusive digital policies, positioning Chad as a prominent player in the global digital economy. Membership will also broaden its network of international partners, propelling the country’s digital transformation forward.
ADETIC has reiterated its dedication to guaranteeing universal, high-quality access to communication and information services in accordance with ITU standards. This commitment is aligned with Chad’s “Chad Connection 2030” national development strategy, led by President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, which aims to foster digital inclusion and promote socio-economic growth.
