During the Africa Tech Festival in Cape Town, South Africa, Eutelsat and Paratus unveiled a significant multi-year, multi-million-dollar agreement to enhance OneWeb’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) services across Southern Africa.

This partnership, which builds on their existing collaboration, aims to deliver Eutelsat’s high-speed, low-latency connectivity solutions to a broader audience, targeting businesses and individuals across South Africa, Angola, Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia.

The alliance between Eutelsat and Paratus addresses the growing demand for reliable, robust connectivity across the continent, catering to a range of needs from remote industrial operations to community and enterprise networks.

Ghassan Murat, Eutelsat’s regional vice president for the Middle East and Africa, emphasised the synergy of their combined strengths, stating, “By pairing Eutelsat’s LEO capabilities with Paratus’ established infrastructure and operational expertise, we empower organisations to maintain connectivity, no matter where they operate.”

Schalk Erasmus, CEO of Paratus, remarked that enhancing their LEO service offerings in partnership with Eutelsat aligns with their strategy of providing adaptable and resilient connectivity solutions across Africa.

Erasmus expressed confidence that by joining forces, they could deliver improved service to their clients: “By collaborating, we are supporting our customers’ growth and digital transformation, even in the most challenging circumstances.”
