AI In Media: FastStream Unveils AI-Generated TV Presenters For Its Interactive Music Channel

FastStream Interactive has officially launched its inaugural AI-generated virtual TV presenters, who will host its free interactive music channel, ROXi. These virtual hosts will present music videos on ROXi, which will initially air on US broadcast television and Sky in the UK and Ireland.

The AI-generated presenters will curate music programming on ROXi, introducing artists and songs while sharing jokes, trivia, and interesting facts about the musicians within a fresh TV show format.

Rob Lewis, CEO of FastStream Interactive, expressed enthusiasm about the innovation: “ROXi’s new virtual presenters elevate the entertainment experience on interactive TV, providing a far more engaging alternative than traditional production methods with actors. With AI, presenters can introduce Beyoncé from a yacht anchored near her favourite Caribbean island, eliminating the need for costly production crews and travel logistics.”

Regarding the ongoing concerns in Hollywood surrounding AI technology, Lewis acknowledged the apprehension that actors and presenters might feel. “We comprehend their worries, yet we believe this technology could revolutionise TV entertainment, making it more interactive, relevant, and appealing to younger audiences. We must embrace AI-generated talent and interactive experiences if we want to engage younger viewers on television,” he stated.

Additionally, Lewis noted that ROXi will exclude all unlicensed AI-generated music from its offerings. He emphasised that AI startups must ensure that songwriters, artists, and rights holders are appropriately licensed and compensated for the music utilised in developing their AI services before ROXi could reconsider its stance.

ROXi is now available for free on broadcast television in the US, thanks to NEXTGEN TV broadcasters Sinclair and Grey, and can also be accessed in the UK and Ireland through Sky Q, Sky Stream, and Sky Glass. Viewers can check out the “Best of 80s Music Videos” to see the virtual TV presenters in action for the first time.
