
Sonatel has appointed Brelotte Ba as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective August 1. He takes over from Sékou Drame, who has served in the role since 2018, with Drame’s term coming to an end on July 31.
In his new position, Ba will collaborate with the board of directors to uphold Sonatel’s leadership and play a vital role in advancing the digital economy and transformation across Africa.
With 24 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Ba’s most recent role was as Deputy Managing Director of Orange Middle East and Africa, a position he held since 2022.
Ba is a graduate engineer from the prestigious Ecole Polytechnique de Paris and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. Throughout his career at Sonatel, he has taken on various significant roles, including Management Controller from 2003 to 2007, Director of Commercial Marketing and Communications at Orange Guinea in 2007-2008, General Manager of Orange Bissau from 2008 to 2011, Director of Operators and International Relations at Sonatel (2011-2012), and General Manager of Orange Guinea (2017-2018) and Orange Mali (2018-2022).
