The Abu Dhabi Creative Media Authority (CMA) has partnered with NG9 Group, a consortium comprising Nirvana Holding, Gewan Holding, and 9Yards Group, to produce a range of significant film and television projects worth US$15 million. This collaboration will commence with the production of two feature films and a 10-episode television series, all of which are intended for global distribution.

Principal photography is set to start in September, with filming taking place in Abu Dhabi. The productions will utilise local crews and talent both on-screen and off-screen, aligning with the Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s enhanced rebate program, which promotes projects showcasing Emirati culture and heritage by providing substantial financial incentives for eligible productions.

Under this agreement, the CMA will offer essential support, which includes access to filming locations, talent development services, casting assistance, and eligibility for the Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s cashback rebate. In exchange, NG9 Group will provide preferential services for CMA-supported film projects, including discounted accommodations, car rentals, flights, and luxury transportation options such as yachts and private jets.

Khalid Khouri, Director of Industry Development at the Creative Media Authority, remarked, “Our goal is to position Abu Dhabi as a leading creative hub, and enhancing our local industry offerings remains a key objective. This exciting new partnership with the NG9 team opens up new avenues for investment and collaboration, fostering growth within the local economy.”

Alaa Al Ali, Group CEO of NG9 Holding, expressed pride in the collaboration, stating it aligns with their commitment to advancing the UAE’s economy through innovation, local partnerships, sustainability, and community engagement. “This partnership will not only produce content for international audiences but will also create job opportunities for aspiring filmmakers from Abu Dhabi,” he added.

Sameer Al Jaberi, Head of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, emphasised the collaboration’s value by aligning with the vision to attract more production partners who can utilise the rebate program. He emphasised the importance of showcasing Abu Dhabi’s diverse filming locations while utilising local production talent and businesses to portray the emirate’s rich cultural and social heritage in captivating film and television content.

Rami Tmaish, General Manager of 9Yards Pictures, expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to highlight Emirati creativity on an international platform. He confirmed that efforts are underway to discover local talent in acting, directing, and writing, empowering these individuals both locally and globally. He also noted that this initiative aims to cultivate a robust production ecosystem to amplify the presence of Emirati content with a contemporary and universally appealing touch.
