Newly appointed MTN Rwanda CEO Ali Monzer has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to steer the company’s future, centred on three bold priorities: expanding access, championing innovation, and committing to sustainability.
Monzer envisions a Rwanda where digital tools and mobile financial services are within reach of every citizen, regardless of where they live or how much they earn. A key part of this mission involves accelerating the rollout of affordable smartphones, broadening mobile banking offerings, and removing barriers preventing individuals from fully engaging in the digital economy.
Working closely with Chantal Kagame, CEO of Mobile Money Rwanda Ltd, Monzer intends to enhance the company’s financial inclusion efforts by delivering secure, cutting-edge services tailored to individuals and businesses.
MTN Rwanda states that Monzer’s leadership will sharpen the company’s focus on nationwide connectivity, a superior customer experience, and environmental responsibility. “We are prioritising the expansion of 4G+ networks across Rwanda to ensure fast, reliable access to digital services and to lay the groundwork for the arrival of 5G,” the company explained. This investment aims to open up new opportunities across the education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship sectors.
Beyond digital expansion, Monzer is guiding MTN Rwanda towards a more sustainable future. The company has emphasised its commitment to environmentally responsible growth, including deploying energy-efficient systems, transitioning to hybrid and electric vehicles, and undertaking an impactful reforestation initiative to reduce its carbon footprint.
