Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation And Airtel Seychelles Join Forces To Offer Free Data Streaming

The Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) has teamed up with Airtel Seychelles to provide mobile users with free data for streaming on the SBC Radio app. This zero-rated service allows Airtel Seychelles customers to enjoy audio streaming from Paradise FM, Radyo Sesel, and various podcasts without any data charges, effective immediately.

This partnership highlights a shared commitment between the leading mobile service provider and the national public broadcaster to improve digital accessibility and foster a more connected community. The SBC Radio app serves as a comprehensive platform for audio content, offering live programming from Radyo Sesel and Paradise FM, along with a selection of podcasts and the audio-on-demand service, Leko. The app also features interactive tools that allow listeners to engage with radio show hosts through messages, video clips, and images.

This collaboration is a significant advancement for SBC, aligning with its strategic goals to transition into the digital age and secure its future relevance in media. “We are excited to work with Airtel Seychelles to provide our audience with a more convenient and affordable way to access our radio programs,” stated Bérard Duprès, CEO of SBC. He emphasised that this partnership offers a timely solution for Radyo Sesel listeners following the shutdown of its AM service, allowing them to continue enjoying their favourite station. “Smartphones have become integral to our daily lives, effectively transforming into the portable radios of today. Airtel deserves recognition for making this possible in Seychelles.”

Mr. Eddy Kapuku, Managing Director of Airtel Seychelles, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This partnership exemplifies our commitment to delivering outstanding value and innovation to our customers. Our goal is to create lasting relationships through exceptional experiences. With this new development, our mobile customers can indulge in uninterrupted audio streaming on the SBC Radio app without drawing from their data plans.”

This initiative is part of an ongoing relationship between Airtel and SBC. It marks the first of several collaborations planned for the upcoming SBC’s OTT service launch later this month.
