Safaricom Ethiopia is excited to announce the expansion of its network coverage throughout the Somali Region, successfully including towns such as Gode, Kebridehar, Kebribeya, Degehabur, Wajale, Awbare, and several others along the way.

This initiative underscores our dedication to enhancing connectivity and digital financial services for communities across Ethiopia. With the enlarged network, we are significantly improving communication for residents and unlocking new opportunities for individuals and businesses in the Somali Region. Our enhanced presence in areas like Gode reflects our mission of connecting people to one another, to knowledge, and opportunities. With the launch of our fast 4G network, residents and visitors can now experience high-speed internet access, driving us closer to our vision of a fully connected Ethiopia.

Wim Vanhelleputte, CEO of Safaricom Ethiopia, emphasises the importance of expanded infrastructure: “The growth of digital technology is crucial for our community’s development. Our network expansion and focus on supporting education are vital to our developmental goals. I would like to express our ongoing commitment to supporting Safaricom Ethiopia in its mission to expand its reach and create a positive impact in the region.”

Abdulahi Ali Haji, Mayor of Gode Town, added, “In addition to ensuring reliable connectivity, Safaricom Ethiopia is prioritising Digital Financial Services through M-PESA. This service has achieved impressive adoption rates in the Somali Region, ranking among the highest in Ethiopia.”

Safaricom Ethiopia is dedicated to leading efforts that transform lives, promote growth, and foster development by harnessing its digital network and community initiatives to enhance connectivity, education, and economic resilience.
