MTN Nigeria has made history by becoming the first African telecommunications company to join the prestigious Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Executive Council. This achievement highlights the company’s commitment to excellence in project management and its dedication to implementing best practices.

The announcement was celebrated at an event held at the MTN Plaza, where George Asamani, Managing Director of PMI Sub-Saharan Africa, presented the PMI Global Executive Council certificate to the company. This milestone underscores the company’s leadership in the telecommunications sector and sets a new standard for project management excellence across Africa.

“Joining the PMI Global Executive Council signals MTN Nigeria’s commitment to innovation and excellence, this council represents the best in project management globally, and MTN Nigeria’s inclusion is a significant achievement for the African continent,” said George Asamani, Managing Director, PMI, Sub-Saharan Arica.

The PMI Global Executive Council comprises industry-leading organisations from around the world. These organisations unite to share the best and emerging project management practices that shape global policies and frameworks. In partnership with PMI, the Council creates meaningful opportunities for learning and networking through engaging experiences and events featuring influential thought leaders.

“We are thrilled to be part of the PMI Global Executive Council,” said Shoyinka Shodunke, Chief Information Officer of MTN Nigeria. “This membership aligns with our strategic goals and provides a platform to showcase our innovative project management practices. We look forward to sharing our experiences and collaborating with other industry leaders to further enhance our services.”

MTN Nigeria’s role in the Council will encompass strategic areas, including disciplined agile assessment aligned with the company’s objectives, acceleration of skilling and knowledge initiatives, and leveraging AI for advanced project management practices.

As MTN Nigeria continues to drive innovation in the telecommunications industry, its PMI Global Executive Council membership will facilitate strategic partnerships and knowledge exchange, engage with pioneering projects, and contribute to the global dialogue on best practices in project management.
