The landscape of radio broadcasting in Africa has undergone a seismic shift in recent years, with podcasting and content streaming reshaping how we produce, distribute and deliver content.

The organisers of the forthcoming Radio and Digital Sound Broadcasting Summit – Africa, which will take place on the 18-19 June 2024 at The Venue – Green Park in Central Johannesburg, South Africa, have announced that it is crucial to delve into the challenges and opportunities that podcasting and OTT streaming present for traditional radio broadcasting and the industry professionals.

Podcasting has exploded in popularity, offering listeners unparalleled flexibility and variety in content consumption. From true crime to self-help, comedy to current affairs, podcasts cater to diverse interests and niche audiences. This surge in demand for on-demand audio presents both challenges and opportunities for traditional radio broadcasters.

Commenting on this, Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO & Publisher of this platform, said, “Podcasting and OTT streaming present both challenges and opportunities for traditional radio broadcasters. By embracing innovation, adapting to changing audience preferences, and leveraging new technologies, radio stations can thrive in the digital age while delivering high-quality content that entertains, informs, and inspires audiences around the globe.”

Organised by this platform, BMA, in collaboration with the Southern Africa Broadcasting Association (SABA), the summit will feature interactive discussions and demonstrations showcasing the latest advancements in radio and digital sound technologies.
