Angola Cables, a provider of digital solutions and network services, has partnered with Cameroon’s telecom operator, Camtel, to grow digital and connectivity services in Cameroon and West Africa.
The deal, signed yesterday, follows both parties’ intention to pursue commercial prospects in West Africa and the Atlantic to improve redundancy, network resilience, and service quality nationally and internationally.
The signing of this agreement marks a significant milestone in the journey to enhance telecoms and digital connectivity throughout Africa, as both parties are committed to this transformative endeavour.
“For users, it will help to secure connectivity, trade, boost economies, and help expand and grow businesses across the region,” said Fernando Fernandes, country manager of TelCables Nigeria, a subsidiary of Angola Cables.
In a statement, the two organisations say that by leveraging the extensive subsea cable connections of SACS, WACS, and Monet within Angola Cables’ backhaul network—as well as the additional connectivity provided by Camtel on the South Atlantic Inter Link—businesses and enterprises will have expanded capacity options and improved traffic access to West Africa’s local and regional networks via Angola Cables and Camtel’s points of presence.
“Once the necessary due diligence has been completed, this partnership has the potential to revolutionise internet connectivity and data transmission in West Africa,” Fernandes asserts, underlining the transformative nature of this collaboration.
Camtel CEO Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi says: “Our strategic intent is to build on the robust backhaul connectivity of the Angola Cables network and the existing interconnections we have in place with other submarine cables connecting the region and the world to provide flexible and secure value-added services for our clients and businesses.”
