The Broadcasters Convention – East Africa 2026 opens on Tuesday, 26 May at the Emara Ole-Sereni Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya, bringing together 60+ speakers and 200 participants from across the region for three days of high-level sessions, industry debate, and content exhibition.

The convention is the region’s premier gathering of broadcasting and digital media professionals, convening leaders across the full value chain — from public and commercial broadcasters and OTT platforms, to content creators, technology providers, and regulators — to address the defining challenges and opportunities shaping African media in 2026 and beyond.

Co-hosted and convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), the continent’s leading broadcast industry intelligence and events platform; the Association of Professional Broadcasters – Kenya (APB-KE), the professional body representing Kenya’s broadcast sector; and the Media Council of Kenya (MCK), the statutory body responsible for the regulation of media and journalists in Kenya, the three-day programme spans the full breadth of the industry’s most pressing priorities, with sessions structured around six core themes:

  • Hybrid Distribution and Infrastructure Resilience — exploring the transition from single-channel delivery to integrated multi-platform ecosystems, including satellite, OTT, cloud, and FAST
  • Content Protection and Anti-Piracy — examining enforcement frameworks, watermarking technology, and the coordinated industry response to organised digital piracy across the continent
  • AI-Assisted Production and Newsroom Automation — addressing the governance, ethics, and practical implementation of AI tools in African broadcast environments.
  • Advertising and Subscription Innovation — reviewing AVOD, FAST, and hybrid monetisation models tailored to African market realities.
  • Secure and Compliant Broadcast Infrastructure — covering cybersecurity strategy, compliance obligations, and operational resilience for modern broadcast operations.

The Broadcasters Convention – East Africa 2026 is made possible by the generous support of its partners and sponsors, whose commitment to the development of African broadcasting is reflected in their participation:

  • Lawo
  • RT
  • France 24
  • Etere
  • Sputnik
  • Viory
  • SES
  • Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC)

Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) extends its sincere gratitude to each partner for their commitment to this convention and to the advancement of professional broadcasting across East Africa and the wider continent.
