Zambia: Liquid Intelligent Technologies Names Leah Nakazwe Kooma As CEO

Leah Nakazwe Kooma has been named the new CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia, starting on April 1, 2026.

This appointment underscores Liquid Intelligent Technologies’ commitment to strengthening its leadership in digital infrastructure throughout Zambia and the larger Southern African region, according to the company, which is part of Cassava Technologies.

Kooma takes over from Mwendamo Mazaba, who led the company during its recent initiatives, including the launch of digital portals aimed at SMEs and public Wi-Fi services.

With over twenty years of diverse experience in the telecommunications, financial services, and media sectors, Kooma’s leadership is deemed crucial at this pivotal moment for the Zambian operations, remarks Wellington Makamure, Sub-Saharan CEO for Cassava Technologies.

Her track record of achieving results is expected to be a driving force for the next growth phase, Makamure adds.

Kooma’s career began at Barclays Bank, and she later moved to Celtel, where she contributed across multiple markets in Africa. In 2016, she was a part of the founding team at Vodafone Zambia, serving as the chief sales and distribution officer and was instrumental in launching the country’s inaugural 4G Long-Term Evolution network.

The following year, she took on the role of GOtv commercial general manager at MultiChoice Zambia. She ultimately became the managing director after serving as the chief customer officer.

“I have witnessed the company’s growth over the years, and I am confident that together with my team, we can elevate it to new heights,” Kooma stated.

Kooma holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Development Studies from the University of Zambia and an MBA from the University of South Wales.

She is actively involved in several boards, including serving as the chair of the Mulungushi International Conference Centre. She is a member of the Institute of Directors and Business Professional Women International.

This new leadership comes as Liquid aims to intensify its efforts to close Zambia’s digital divide by enhancing home network connectivity and providing managed services for both public and private sectors.
