Lion Forge Entertainment is excited to announce the return of its acclaimed animated fantasy series “Iyanu” for a second season, set to premiere on Cartoon Network on March 21 and on HBO Max the following day, March 22. Following a successful first season that achieved strong ratings and sparked positive cultural conversations among younger viewers, the franchise is poised for even greater storytelling.

David Steward II, Founder and CEO of Lion Forge Entertainment, expressed his excitement, stating, “‘Iyanu’ has distinguished itself as a unique series, and we are eager to embark on this next chapter with season two. The stakes are raised in every aspect, from the narrative scale to character development. This season represents an important milestone in the franchise’s expansion, and we are confident that audiences will be even more engaged as Iyanu’s adventure unfolds, filled with bold storytelling and formidable new challenges.”

Inspired by the graphic novel “Iyanu: Child of Wonder” by Roye Okupe, the series follows a teenage orphan who uncovers her divine abilities and her fate as a protector of the ancient kingdom of Yorubaland. Produced by Lion Forge Entertainment, the show masterfully intertwines fantasy adventure with elements of African culture and mythology.

Creator, Showrunner, and Executive Producer Roye Okupe shared, “Iyanu’s journey in season two dives deep into themes of secrets, sacrifice, and the true meaning of leadership, and it has been the most fulfilling creative endeavour of my career, and I’m thrilled to collaborate once again with Lion Forge Entertainment to realise this vision.”

The new season will bring 10 additional episodes that delve further into Iyanu’s growth and the escalating conflict between Elu and the People of the Deep. Fans will hear familiar voices returning, such as Serah Johnson as Iyanu, Okey Jude as Biyi, and Sam Kugbiyi as Toye, alongside exciting new cast members, including Faith Gesiere Agua as Queen Adura and David Onwubalili as Boju.

Moreover, the “Iyanu” universe is set to expand beyond the series, with a feature-length film in development for both network and streaming platforms, promising to further enrich the franchise’s storytelling landscape.
