Namibia has made significant strides in its digital and communication infrastructure, as Radio Electronic (PTY) Ltd, through its subsidiary Blue Telecommunications, received regulatory approval to offer Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite services. This pivotal development paves the way for the rollout of Eutelsat OneWeb connectivity nationwide.
This approval plays a crucial role in Radio Electronic’s 2026 strategy, which aims to integrate advanced LEO technology into Namibia’s communication landscape. The focus is on expanding high-performance, reliable connectivity for maritime, enterprise, and mission-critical applications, as well as underserved populations.
LEO satellite technology is set to deliver low-latency, high-speed broadband, enhancing operational resilience, promoting digital inclusion, and supporting economic development. This initiative highlights Namibia’s commitment to adopting innovative connectivity solutions and advancing its national digital transformation.
Radio Electronic emphasised that this achievement showcases its commitment to utilising globally recognised technology within a locally licensed framework, enhancing access to robust communication networks. The company is eager to partner with clients, stakeholders, and partners to deliver top-tier LEO satellite connectivity throughout Namibia.
As the nation embarks on this new phase in satellite communications, the launch of Eutelsat OneWeb services is expected to strengthen digital infrastructure, connect underserved regions, and stimulate economic and social advancement across the country.
