BBC Launches Dedicated Women’s Football YouTube Channel

The BBC has launched a dedicated Women’s Football YouTube channel for the 2026/27 season, expanding its digital coverage of the women’s game with match highlights, original programmes, interviews and analysis.

The channel, launched on September 2, will bring fans highlights from every WSL match, with clips of up to eight minutes, as well as original programmes and features.

The launch comes as the BBC brings The Women’s Football Show to an end after more than a decade on air. The broadcaster says the move is part of a shift towards digital-first coverage, with the new YouTube channel providing fans with a dedicated destination for match highlights, analysis and original content.

The new offering is part of a wider expansion of the BBC’s coverage across television, streaming, radio, websites and social media.
Alongside the YouTube channel, the BBC has introduced The Women’s Football Fallout, a 15-minute post-match programme available on BBC iPlayer, YouTube and the BBC Sport website and app. The programme will feature presenters and former players providing reaction and analysis after selected matches.

Among the pundits involved are former England internationals Ellen White, Fara Williams, Anita Asante and Steph Houghton.
Alex Scott will lead the BBC’s WSL presentation this season, working alongside Jeanette Kwakye, Sarah Mulkerrins and Betty Glover.
The YouTube channel will also feature visualised versions of the Women’s Football Weekly podcast, hosted by Ben Haines and Ellen White. A new series, The Debrief, is also launching, with Chelsea players Katie McCabe and Erin Cuthbert appearing in its first episode.

Other established BBC formats, including Confession Cam, Eat and Yap and The Tooney & Russo Show, will continue as part of the broadcaster’s digital offering.

The BBC will also continue its live WSL coverage, with 25 matches scheduled to be shown on BBC television and iPlayer during the season. The opening live fixture will see Chelsea face Aston Villa on September 5.
Alex Kay-Jelski, BBC Director of Sport, described the new YouTube channel as a major development in the broadcaster’s approach to covering women’s football.

He said the combination of live coverage, highlights, radio, digital reporting and social content would create a year-round destination for fans.
The BBC’s coverage will build towards the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which the corporation will broadcast live.

The move reflects how audiences consume sports content, with broadcasters increasingly using digital platforms to reach younger viewers and offer shorter, on-demand content alongside traditional television coverage.
