South African media intelligence company Media Host has launched Adlytics Pulse, a new advertising intelligence platform that provides independently monitored, near real-time data on advertising spend across television, radio, print, digital, social, online, and out-of-home media.
The platform went live on 1 September following an industry beta programme developed in collaboration with agencies and media owners.
Its key proposition is speed. South African advertising spend data has traditionally been reported with a monthly delay, limiting how quickly broadcasters and media owners can respond to changes in advertiser activity. Adlytics Pulse aims to significantly shorten that gap, potentially giving media businesses a faster view of competitor activity, campaign flighting and shifts in advertising investment.
The launch comes as South Africa’s audience measurement landscape is also undergoing change, with the Broadcast Research Council of South Africa (BRC) set to introduce Total Video Measurement from 1 January 2027.
Whether Adlytics Pulse ultimately develops into a recognised advertising currency or remains primarily a planning and intelligence tool will depend on industry adoption. For now, its near real-time approach adds another layer to a rapidly evolving South African media measurement market.
