As broadcasters and media companies face growing pressure to deliver more content across more platforms, AI and automation are transforming how programming is scheduled, monetised and discovered.
This will be the focus of an upcoming Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) webinar, “Smarter Workflows: How AI and Automation Are Transforming Content Production and Distribution,” taking place on Tuesday, 06 October 2026.
Under the topic “Smart Distribution: Dynamic Playout Scheduling, Real-Time Ad Insertion, and Personalised Recommendations,” the webinar will examine how intelligent technologies are enabling media organisations to move beyond traditional, static distribution models to more responsive, data-driven workflows.
AI-powered distribution can dynamically optimise playout schedules based on audience behaviour, programming priorities and changing viewing patterns. At the same time, real-time ad insertion is creating opportunities to deliver more targeted advertising, allowing content providers to adapt campaigns to different audiences, platforms and viewing environments.
Personalised recommendations are also becoming increasingly important as audiences face an expanding choice of television channels, streaming services and digital content. AI can analyse viewing behaviour and content preferences to help platforms surface relevant programming, improve discovery and strengthen audience engagement.
For African broadcasters and content platforms, these capabilities present opportunities to improve operational efficiency while creating more relevant viewing experiences and new approaches to content monetisation.
The webinar will explore how these technologies are being applied across the content distribution chain, including the practical considerations around automation, data, infrastructure and integration with existing broadcast and media systems.
“Smart distribution is increasingly about making the right content available to the right audience at the right moment, while making the underlying operation more efficient,” said Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa. “AI and automation are creating new possibilities across scheduling, advertising and content discovery, but the real opportunity lies in how media organisations integrate these capabilities into their existing workflows and business models.”
The session will bring together broadcast, media, technology, and content professionals to examine the changing distribution landscape and the practical steps organisations can take to build smarter, more adaptive operations.
