Spacetoon Named Licensing Agent For ‘Detective Conan’ In MENA Region: Expanding The Franchise’s Reach

Spacetoon has officially been named the licensing agent for the Detective Conan franchise in the Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye (MENAT) by Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, a prominent Japanese licensing and merchandising firm.

The Detective Conan franchise is primarily anchored by a highly popular television series that has amassed over 1,150 episodes. New episodes are released concurrently with their Japanese broadcasts on Spacetoon Go, allowing fans in the MENAT region to stay up to date with the latest story developments.

As part of this agreement, viewers in the region can anticipate a wider variety of Detective Conan experiences. Spacetoon will collaborate with both regional and international partners to enhance licensing and merchandising efforts. These initiatives will feature consumer goods, toys, themed events, and engaging on-ground experiences aimed at attracting both new audiences and dedicated fans.

This deal builds on Spacetoon’s longstanding relationship with the franchise. The company was the pioneer broadcaster to introduce Detective Conan, also known as Case Closed, to MENA viewers back in the early 2000s through Spacetoon TV. Since then, it has been a principal regional platform for the series, featuring episodes on its television network and streaming them through the Spacetoon Go app. Additionally, via its distribution unit, Spacetoon Pictures, the firm has successfully brought recent Detective Conan films to cinemas, fostering a robust and loyal fan community throughout the region.

In conjunction with the licensing news, Spacetoon announced plans to release the newest Detective Conan film in MENA cinemas in 2026. Past releases from Spacetoon Pictures have achieved impressive box-office success, ranking among the top anime films in key markets such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait. Recent films from the franchise, including Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram and Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback, have enjoyed significant commercial success in Japan, with the series collectively surpassing 100 million cinema admissions since its inception in 1997.
