Open Access Data Centres Acquires Seven NTT DATA Centres In South Africa

Open Access Data Centres (OADC), part of the WIOCC Group, has enhanced its presence in South Africa by acquiring seven data centres from NTT DATA South Africa, which Internet Solutions formerly managed. The acquisition was completed on December 31, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two organisations.

As part of the agreement, OADC has acquired the data centres and will lease them back to NTT DATA South Africa. NTT DATA will continue to serve as the primary contact for clients and maintain service delivery from these facilities. At the same time, OADC will take over day-to-day operational management of the data centres.

“NTT DATA’s local strategy focuses on refining its operations by divesting from non-core, asset-heavy facilities to better concentrate on integrated technology and managed colocation services. This transition is designed to be seamless for NTT DATA clients, ensuring that services remain uninterrupted and communication channels stay the same,” said Martin Springer, Senior Director of Infrastructure Solutions at NTT DATA South Africa.

Joshua Smythwood, Chief Strategy & M&A Officer at WIOCC Group, commented, “This acquisition signifies a strategic move in WIOCC Group’s broader Pan-Africa digital infrastructure strategy, aimed at expanding its data centre and connectivity operations. By taking ownership and managing the facilities, we empower NTT DATA South Africa to concentrate on client service, while OADC guarantees robust, scalable, and future-ready data centre operations.”

It is important to note that this agreement does not affect NTT DATA’s Global Data Centre (GDC) in Johannesburg 1, which will continue operating as normal. NTT DATA remains dedicated to providing high-quality colocation, hosting, and managed services to support clients in their digital transformation and cloud initiatives.
