ARABSAT And LTT Partner To Strengthen Libya’s Satellite Connectivity And Digital Infrastructure

The Arab Satellite Communications Organisation (ARABSAT) and Libya Telecom and Technology (LTT) have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at expanding satellite connectivity, strengthening network resilience and supporting Libya’s digital infrastructure development.

Under the agreement, ARABSAT will provide High Throughput Satellite (HTS) capacity through its Arabsat-6A satellite at 30.5° East, supporting LTT’s existing connectivity requirements while creating additional capacity for future services.

The partnership will also provide a framework for the two organisations to explore further areas of cooperation, expand their respective service capabilities and develop connectivity solutions for government institutions, enterprises, telecommunications operators and other critical sectors.

The agreement brings together ARABSAT’s satellite infrastructure and regional coverage with LTT’s national telecommunications capabilities. The partners expect the collaboration to improve network resilience and service continuity while supporting Libya’s wider digital transformation agenda.

ARABSAT CEO Dr Badr N. Alsuwaidan said the agreement builds on the organisation’s longstanding relationship with Libya’s telecommunications sector, including its links with the Libyan International Telecommunications Company, one of ARABSAT’s principal shareholders.

He said the partnership would enable ARABSAT to provide advanced satellite capacity and communications solutions designed to support the growing connectivity requirements of government, telecom operators, businesses and other strategic sectors.

Alsuwaidan also highlighted the importance of investment in satellite infrastructure and long-term partnerships in supporting sustainable development and the growth of the digital economy.

LTT Chairman Eng. Ammar Al-Bouzaidi said the agreement would allow the two organisations to combine their respective capabilities to strengthen Libya’s communications infrastructure and improve the reliability and quality of connectivity services.

The partnership comes as demand grows for secure, resilient and high-capacity communications infrastructure across Libya. Satellite connectivity can play a critical role in extending network reach, supporting business continuity and providing communications services to government, businesses and critical industries.

For Libya, the collaboration also highlights the growing role of satellite technology in building a more resilient digital ecosystem. High-throughput satellite capacity can complement terrestrial networks by providing additional connectivity options and supporting services where conventional infrastructure may be limited or vulnerable.

The ARABSAT-LTT partnership therefore represents a broader effort to strengthen Libya’s communications capabilities while creating a foundation for new satellite-enabled services and digital applications across the country.
