OTT Streaming Event Set To Redefine Parameters For Global Partnerships For Africa’s Content Ecosystem

The African content streaming market is rapidly emerging as a global frontier, powered by a youthful, digitally connected audience and a strong appetite for authentic African stories. As the market grows, there is a pressing need to translate global interest into structured, sustainable investments that not only acquire content but also strengthen local production capabilities and develop the broader ecosystem.

The OTT Content Streaming Summit – Africa 2026 will serve as a pivotal platform to address this challenge. Hosted by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), the 6th annual Summit will take place 24–25 February 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa, with a focus on the topic ‘Parameters For Global Partnerships – How International “Big-Players” Can Co-invest In African Content Ecosystem.

This session is central to the Summit agenda, recognising that while international investment in African content is accelerating, there is a critical need for formal, shared frameworks that ensure ethical and sustainable engagement. The discussion will move beyond market growth to focus on creating mutually beneficial guidelines that safeguard long-term value, promote fair practices, and empower local creators and industries.

Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) and Convener of the Summit, said, “African content is a global commodity. This session is designed to create a definitive, structured win-win framework. International investors gain authentic access to high-quality African stories, while local creators receive the resources, support, and platforms needed to thrive. The parameters we establish here will guide content partnerships across the continent for the next decade.”

The Summit will gather CEOs, regulators, international streaming platforms, and leading African content creators to define the essential pillars of successful global partnerships: Access, Localisation, and Value Creation. These discussions aim to create a blueprint for investment and collaboration that fosters sustainable growth, strengthens the local content ecosystem, and ensures African stories achieve global reach without compromising cultural authenticity.

As the premier industry event for digital content, streaming, and broadcasting in Africa, the OTT Content Streaming Summit – Africa 2026 promises to be a transformative forum, setting the stage for the next decade of collaboration between African creators and international partners.
