Vice President of Uganda To Inaugurate East Africa’s Leading Broadcast Convention in Kampala

Organisers and conveners of the forthcoming Broadcasters Convention—East Africa 2025 have confirmed that Her Excellency Mrs Jessica Alupo, Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, has agreed to give the headline opening address.

With the theme: “Driving Excellence in Digital Media Services Delivery in the Age of AI,” the high-profile industry gathering, which will take place on the 27 – 28 May 2025 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, is set up to be the powerful assembly of industry leaders, policymakers, broadcasters, content owners, and technology solutions providers from across the region and beyond! to assess and shape the future of broadcasting and digital media in East Africa. 

Uganda and East Africa’s broadcast media landscape is transforming rapidly, with increasing convergence and shifting audience behaviours and content consumption patterns. These changes portend unprecedented opportunities for growth and advancements for industry players and stakeholders.

Commenting on Her Excellency, the Vice President, agreeing to headline the convention, Mr Benjamin Pius, the convention’s chief convener, said: “This very much highlights and underscores the Ugandan government’s unwavering support and commitment to building a robust and inclusive media ecosystem that harnesses local talent and digital innovation, thereby enhancing profound access to trusted, culturally relevant media services.”

“This Broadcasters Convention is a platform for action and a catalyst for real change in how we create, manage, and deliver content that speaks to and reflects Africa’s rich and diverse cultures,” concluded Mr Pius.

This industry gathering is hosted by Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) and co-convened with the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC). Key supporting organisations SES, Sputnik, Babeleye, France24, Lawo, the National Broadcasting Association of Uganda and more.
