“A Digital Future for All” is the focus of the Summit of the Future’s digital track, which aims to encourage commitments to utilize innovation and emerging technologies in a more inclusive, safe, and sustainable manner. This event, featuring SDG Digital 2024, will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and will also be accessible online on 21 September.

Convened by the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology (OSET), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), this event will highlight SDG Digital and other segments related to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI). It serves as a cornerstone of international efforts to leverage digital innovation to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The track aims to bring together leaders from government, civil society, the private sector, the youth movement, and academia to explore the trends, risks, opportunities, and solutions presented by digital and emerging technologies.

“A Digital Future for All” will be held in conjunction with the UN General Assembly and the Summit of the Future, showcasing how digital technologies can help create a more sustainable, inclusive, and responsible future.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies. Established in 1865, it coordinates the global use of the radio spectrum, promotes international cooperation in assigning satellite orbits, improves communication infrastructure in the developing world, and establishes standards that foster seamless interconnection of communications systems. ITU is committed to connecting the world.

About UNDP:
UNDP is the leading United Nations organization fighting to end the injustice of poverty, inequality, and climate change. With a broad network of experts and partners in 170 countries, UNDP helps nations build integrated, lasting solutions for people and the planet.

About the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology (OSET):
OSET champions global digital cooperation and addresses emerging digital challenges. The Office plays a pivotal role in harnessing technology’s potential for the Sustainable Development Goals and serves as a primary contact for digital cooperation within the broader UN system.
