Nigeria: AfroSport Gets Exclusive Media Rights To The FIFA World Cup 2026 African Qualifiers

MMS/PC Plus Group, the exclusive agency appointed by FIFA to manage the FIFA World Cup 2026 African Qualifiers in 41 Sub-Saharan African countries, has granted AfroSport the exclusive media rights to broadcast the tournament in Nigeria.

Afrosport has also been appointed as the Host Broadcaster, and together with the National Broadcaster, NTA Network, it will be responsible for producing and presenting the Nigeria National Team matches to the nation.

The stakes are high, with an expanded final tournament set to occur in the USA, Mexico, and Canada in 2026. Up to 10 places are up for grabs, with the winners from each of the nine groups of six qualifying automatically and another team having a chance through a playoff. As we approach the climax of the qualifiers, Nigeria’s next match week will offer two thrilling matches. The first, a home game against South Africa on 7 June at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, promises to be a nail-biter. Three days later, an away fixture against Benin, to be hosted in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, will keep fans on the edge of their seats.

The match against South Africa will mark the first competitive outing for newly appointed coach and former Super Eagle, Finidi George, and promises to be a thrilling match following the recent AFCON Semi-Final encounter between the two sides.

The Squad is expected to commence preparations in June with daily coverage and updates available via AfroSport and NFF TV provided from inside the camp.

CEO of MMS, Redha Chibani, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with AfroSport in Nigeria, a long-standing partner for the UEFA Champions League, during his tenure at CFI. This collaboration is set to bring unprecedented audiences through AfroSport’s dedicated channel and multiple TV partners in the most populated country in Sub-Saharan Africa, underscoring the significance of this partnership.
