UNESCO, with the support of Eutelsat Group, has launched Educa-TV, an educational television channel dedicated exclusively to teaching and learning in Central Africa.

The channel is aimed at improving access to and quality of education in Central Africa by providing a platform dedicated exclusively to teaching and learning. The channel will be available 24/7, free-to-air, and broadcast via satellite in over 20 countries on the African continent.

According to UNESCO, Educa-TV is primarily aimed at pupils enrolled in exam classes from primary to secondary school, offering them a resource to help prepare for their final exams. The channel will also provide non-formal education content aimed at young people and adults, with training in various fields such as health education, education for sustainable development, and entrepreneurship training to promote employability.

The launch of Educa-TV is an important step towards reducing the digital divide and expanding digital inclusion. Laurence Delpy, President of Eutelsat’s video business, commented on the launch, saying, “This new channel fits perfectly with the beneficial social mission that our satellites can offer by facilitating access to education for all students in Central Africa. Thanks to satellite, students in even the most remote and inaccessible regions, whatever the level of infrastructure development, will benefit from this new educational content.”
